Old Fashion
Sipping On A Whole Vibe
When I used to drink
I liked to drink Old Fashions
*
Sipping on
a whole vibe
that predates
this millennium
*
Dating apps annoy me
I'd rather be bold
like bourbon
*
Walk straight up
to a person I admire
and ask them out
with confidence and a smile
*
Texting is my least favorite
form of communication
I'd rather speak sweetly
like a sugar cube
*
Speaking face to face
or ear to ear
So you can hear
the sincere saccharine subtleties
within the sacred geometry of my words
*
Fast food relationships
don’t curb my hunger for intimacy
Overloaded sugar and grease
to mask to toxicity of a connection
makes me sick to my stomach
I'd rather be stomach soothing
like angostura bitters
*
Connections as authentic as my food
with all the flavors rich and full
Paired with sobering conversations
filled with enough tannins
to cleanse my palette
and keep me my stomach sound
*
Trends, image, fashion, and plastic things
are such a bore to me
I'd rather relish in the zest of life
like an orange peel
*
Simple in appearance
Vibrant in my skin
Showing natural colors
of priceless joy in abundance
As if happiness grows on trees
