Oil Pastel Reverie

- A Journey of Unbridled Creativity

I long for the simplicity of oil pastels

Those waxy wands of vibrant hue

To grasp them in my eager hands

And let my heart's desires shine through

I yearn to draw upon the beloved white paper

To cast aside the shackles of perfection

And embrace the clumsy freedom

That oil pastel creations so sweetly reflect

__

No more shall I be bound

By the constraints of what "should" be

But rather, revel in the boundless joy

Of letting my creativity flow free

Never again shall tears stain these eyes

Obscuring the canvas of my sight

For in this realm of oil pastel dreams

I find a sanctuary of pure delight

__

I long to lose myself in the symphony

Of colors dancing across the page

Each hue a gateway to emotions

That transcend the bounds of age

With each stroke of my oil-tipped wand

I shed the burdens of the world

Surrendering to the pure, unbridled bliss

Of a canvas unfurled

__

Oh, to draw with childlike abandon

To let my imagination soar

Unconstrained by the limits of reason

Unrestricted by what came before

In this oil pastel-colored wonderland

I find a refuge from life's demands

A space where my soul can truly roam

Where creativity takes a hold

__

I long to sketch the next vibrant dream

To paint the visions that fill my mind

Unhindered by the need for perfection

Unbound by the rules that others defined

For in this realm of oil pastel creations

I discover a freedom so profound

A realm where my truest self can blossom

Where my spirit can be unbound

__

No more shall I be shackled

By the expectations of others

But instead, revel in the joyful chaos

That my oil pastel canvas engenders

I'll draw with reckless abandon

Letting the colors bleed and blend

Crafting a tapestry of emotions

That my heart alone can comprehend

__

The crisp, white paper, my canvas divine

Awaits the dance of my oil-tipped wand

Inviting me to explore the depths

Of a world that lies beyond

I'll paint the sky in azure hues

Adorn the trees in emerald green

Splash the earth with a rainbow's worth

Of tones that have never been seen

__

And when the last line is drawn

The final stroke has been made

I'll step back and marvel

At the masterpiece I've laid

For in this oil pastel-colored creation

I find a reflection of my soul

A testament to power of childlike wonder

To make my spirit feel whole

__

No longer shall tears cloud my vision

No longer shall I be bound by fear

For in this realm of oil pastel dreams

I find a sanctuary, pure and clear

So let me grasp those oily wands

And dance upon the page with glee

For in this act of oil pastel creation

I find the beauty that sets me free

There was a clerical error in the second line of this poem:"Those waxy wands of vibrant hue"("waxy"). The correct one should be:"Those oily wands of vibrant hue"("oily").

The childlike wonder is the best of creativity! I draw with words and my photos. I'm no good at drawing. My mother taught herself to sew and made curtains, men's jackets, drapes, slipcovers. Then she did pottery; then taught herself to paint in oils and figured out how to do dewdrops when the instructor couldn't. Artists amaze me.
