Of Logic and Love: Who’s More VOCAL?

"Internal Corporate Affairs – Heart vs Brain Ltd."

By N.K EunPublished about a year ago 1 min read

In this Acrostic poem challenge—around the word VOCAL—I brought out the conflict that unfolds between emotions and logic. How do these two co-workers get along? The Heart—overemotional. The Brain—screams of logic. These two co-workers are always bickering — always trying to out-VOCAL the other! But beneath their daily drama lies the existential conundrum of their co-existence. What’s really at stake? What’s the grand loss that stems from their constant rivalry? Did they even read the job contract? Or check the office hour policy?- who wins in the end?

THE CEO

Vocal? They are venting on who can get vocal enough? huh!

Office lights now flickering off —the CEO is about to flip the switch

CEO-Time —doesn’t care—it watches, unimpressed—waiting

Always bickering, sabotaging—two stubborn coworkers! -Talk of Ego!

Logic vs feelings—the chase never ends.

Vanity—it’s all vanity in the end. When the lights go off, the two co-workers will be rendered redundant.

Obsolete—out of the job. No negotiation, no second chances.

Collaboration was the only way—they missed the sign!

Amicable co-existence! —couldn’t be vocal enough!

Lost in the chase-never realizing their survival depended on balance.

"See—if only they could work together, they might actually co-exist, live—before the CEO lays them off for good"

BUT HEY!

Well...That’s the tragedy of existence. right?

By the time they figure it out...

Tik Tok! ... Tik! Tok!...

Lights out.

Eyes shut.

Time’s up.

"Rest easy," --- we'll all say!---

OUCH!

Hits Hard! ---like a termination letter you didn’t see coming.

No probation period.

Just cold realization that the CEO didn’t have a trophy for either.

------Who's VOCAL now? Huh?-----
