Ode to the Humble Spoon
In silver curves and gentle dip
Oh humble spoon, how oft we overlook thy grace,
In silver curves and gentle dip, a soft embrace.
In the humdrum of life's ever-hurrying pace,
You cradle the world's flavors with silent grace.
How you dive into morning's sweet, creamy delight,
Into the coffee dark as a starless night,
Stirring in sugar's dance, a captivating sight,
Transforming murky depths into dawn's first light.
You are the ship on which spices embark,
On a flavorful voyage, making its mark,
In the ocean of soup, a savory lark,
Guiding the tongue on a journey, stark.
And when sickness weaves its gloomy shroud,
In the hush of night, when coughs are loud,
You bring healing with honey, a golden cloud,
A soothing balm, in warmth enrobed, endowed.
You stand strong in the heat of the midday feast,
Mixing, mashing, taming the beast,
In the wild orchestra of cooking, not the least,
A quiet conductor, to say the least.
At day's end, under the pale moonbeam,
In a bowl of dessert, you softly gleam,
Delving into realms of a sweet dream,
Carrying delight in each silvery seam.
So, here's to you, the humble spoon,
Unsung hero of many a noon.
A bearer of comfort, a melodious tune,
To life's simple pleasures, you are a boon.
May we never forget your subtle art,
The simple joy that you impart.
In every scoop, dip, and depart,
You, dear spoon, are a work of heart.
