A day at the Beach

Senses trigger memories familiar,

Smells of sunscreen, saltwater sand and sweat,

The laughter of children playing in water,

Small feet stomp sandcastles without regret.

-

Lifeguards blue keep watch on what lays before,

Keep safe swimmers who might be swept away.

A crash of the waves as they hit the shore,

Drowns out the noise and brings peace to the day.

-

Sunlight strews diamonds on blanket of blue,

Thousands of bodies still cover the beach,

Basking in joy forging memories new,

Making the most of what's left of the heat.

-

As day draws to close we bid our goodbye,

To the magical place we call Bondi.
