Daresay I lapse into nirvana,

as an animal obsessed with air.

Toil at the farm with fire in its eyes

a young stud sees its reflection in a cow.

Thrown in a heap, a bundle of cedar rails.

What are the chances I was there?

The scruff of a small rabbit lodged firmly

between the jaws of a hungry calico cat.

Green eyes peer from within the pile,

a standoff reveals my image in that

small tuft of brown fur within reach.

The cat buries herself deeper into my palm.

I found myself out of sight, obsessing.

You at the sideline recoil into inertia.
