Commissioned by my brother Scott Richardson
As the seasons change, so do we.
What was once loved may be lost,
or maybe the love we just fail to see.
We used to say “whatever the cost”.
But now we say “whatever comes along”.
We used to dance in the rain.
But now we feel we don’t belong,
we ask the rain to wash away the pain.
The fall leaves slowly change,
We admire the beauty of their passing.
We don’t stop to think that it's strange.
But it’s in their graveyard we are trespassing.
October showers fall down onto the pavement,
as we contemplate our life’s placement
