Observer in a Window Seat
a poem

I settle in stillness on the window seat,
observing the moments as they rush past me.
My mind a blank canvas
for all of these antics,
writing rules about the way we could be.
/
From here, I see time measured in waves,
by the comings and goings the people gave
to a life of commotion
like tides of the ocean
that flood in then, drift away.
/
I rest my head on the window pane,
trying to hold lessons in my fragile brain.
Who are we, what do we know,
and to you, what do we owe?
The world answered in sunlight waned.
