Oblivion: still a riddle?

As we get closer and closer to Friday's deadline, more and more creative answers are being offered. Have any of them hit the nail on the head, yet? All is still to play for

Yeah, I know, crummy AI illustration but whatdoyado?

And so, my friends, we start to shine

At solving riddles, yours and mine.

I'd like to say some winning tries

Have come quite close to saying why

My banking branch is named as is,

My reasons you will think a wiz.

But if you are so keen to know

Why services are titled so

You will have to carry on

And wait until next August, one.

As the deadline for solving the riddle approaches, we have had some wonderfully reasoned answers. We may (or may not) already have a correct answer. What do you think? Have the answers proffered, so far, hit the mark, or not? Either way, there is still a chance you could win a prize. $10 for the first correct answer, plus at least one $5 runner-up prize, if anyone else gets the answer right before the deadline. There will also be an award of $5 to the person who gave the best, funniest, most original, or otherwise entertaining, incorrect answer.

Deadline: July 31, 2026 @ 23:59 EST

Answers will be provided, and prizes paid as tips, soon after.

Watch this space!

Meanwhile, why not check out the answers so far, and see if you can beat the current contestants to win a prize? If you have already had a go, you are welcome to have another try but only your final answer will count. One guess only per entrant.
