O Father

A Poem

O father,

Where have you been

Can you remember

Or have you forgotten again

Violent wars rage inside

The battle for a fix or pride

Conventional rules do not apply

Get up from off the floor

Rock bottoms too long a fall

It’s closer after the score

Here let me point you to the door

Where have you been

In a pool of self hate and loathing

Years and years you missed a boy growing

Time up the cancer's not slowing

There’s no time to wait

O father I hold no hate

I’m sorry

You're just twenty-one years too late
