What the hell happened to you?

Sun beating down

like the dog days

in the month of the Roman King

*

Brown grass crinkles

like Reynolds brand aluminum foil

underfoot

*

Dry, colorless leaves

appear like Post-it notes

strewn about the writer’s office

*

Once fertile ground

now but dust

blown in the southerly breeze

*

Clouds scattered in the sky

like tissue paper

on Christmas morning

*

This is November?
