Not your own

Leave the shadows alone

Do you hear the Things that go bump in the night?

Are they something real or just in your mind

Can you hear them somewhere just out of sight

Devouring your sane thoughts into chaos and fright

Do you holler and scream or ignore, turning your head

Pretend thats not a shadow at the foot of your bed

Praying for days sunlight to appear

Hoping and praying that you will still be here

Clinging to your pillow under your blanket for peace

Turn the music on so you can’t hear your knees

Knocking like an angry stranger at the door

A pounding that you simply can’t ignore

Whatever happens do not let them in

Once inside they’ll never leave again

A prisoner’s puppet you will become

A soldier in their war of fun

Hiding in the ceilings, floors and the walls

Insanely follow whenever they call

Your helpless now to escape it all

Kept captive in chains no one sees

So pay attention when you hear

A whispered voice in your ear a message unfamiliar, the reasons unclear

That thumping from the darkness underneath the stairs

Laying in wait for someone unaware

It may be nothing , But then again, it could be

Maybe you should go check and see

Go ahead and take a peek behind that door🚪

Gotcha!

Sorry, now you aint no more!!
