This Time Love Means Letting Go

By JessePublished about a year ago • 1 min read

The meaning of love is tied to the time and season we find ourselves in;

Love could mean sacrificing— one's conscious loss for the other's gain

It could also mean: forbearing, honoring, committing, communicating, trusting and sometimes, paradoxically...

It could mean letting go—

And this time it meant letting go.

I've always thought letting go was the greatest meaning of love that only the strongest were capable of

I was once asked "How much did you love her?"

Well

I loved her so much that I'd endure Neptune's bitter cold till Earth could no longer orbit the sun

So much that I'd make it through all of Hell's vile nine circles thrice

Hercules could never take her from my grip— a thousand Aphrodites would fail to taint my fidelity

Amnesia has no power to rinse her off my memory

Even the certitude of Death's finality couldn't kill it

I loved her so much I let her go

The meaning of love is tied to the time and season we find ourselves in—

Right here in my time and season, love means letting go

Maybe she'd be mine in another life

I'd fix my gaze on that same image of her and my eyes will light up like it did before

Maybe I let her go in this life, so that in the next, I wouldn't have to.
