No Need For Divorce

There is a line you do not cross with me,

Not with the life I have built from the ground,

Not with the children who carry my heart,

Not with the love that keeps me bound.

You can say what you want, walk where you please,

Break what you never cared to repair,

I have swallowed enough of your careless harm,

And carried more than my share.

Lay a hand where it does not belong,

On me or the ones who look to me for safety,

And you will meet a version of me you never knew,

One that does not hesitate or wait patiently.

This is not anger dressed up in empty words,

Not something said in the heat of a fight,

It is a promise carved out of instinct and truth,

A boundary held with all of my might.

Some things do not get second chances,

Some lines are final once they are drawn,

And I will stand between you and what matters,

Until there is nothing left to stand on.

No need for papers or signatures here,

No long goodbye or quiet retreat,

Respect the line that I have set clearly,

Or face the part of me that does not accept defeat.
