Some are out in clubs and parties
While some are with their families,
A happiness yet sadness is seen in their eyes,
Recollecting the memories they made this year,
Reliving those very memories and moments,
Some having tears,
While some having smiles.
Some just waiting for a new start,
While some are reluctant to let go.
We made many memories,
Some bad, some good.
But why let those bad moments hold us back?
Why let this bad moments take the better of us?
Take advantage of us?
Let’s start a new year,
With positivity and happiness,
Patience and endurance.
Let’s make this year where we will let go of the past and look forward to ther future,
A year where we will make more memories and moments.
Pay attention to your loved ones,
Take care of them, love them, value them.
You will never know when they will be no longer here.
Value the moments you have with them,
Make memories that will last forever.
let’s welcome 2024 positivity and happiness,
And make many more pleasant memories and moments.

Istanbul is a city bristling with life, a place where past and present, sacred and profane, intertwine under the watchful gaze of the Sultan Ahmet Mosque. As I explore this crossroads of cultures with Maya, my nine-year-old niece and the daughter of my late brother-in-law Frank, and my wife Nadia, Frank's sister, I find myself on a journey not just through Istanbul's history, but also into the depths of my own beliefs. Staying with Maya and her mother Elvan, my sister-in-law, I begin to see the city anew through their eyes, and to understand why James Baldwin said it "revived" him.
