I feel silly to have missed it.
Felt that first connection right away; That first understanding of the one person who could truly understand me without even thinking about.
Saw those blue eyes sparkle and the warm smile.
I knew. Of course I knew.
But it can be so hard to trust, even when it should be obvious.
You waited patiently to be seen as I looked right at you.
Through you, sometimes.
Always looking for faults, imperfections.
Signs of wear that would make you less worthy of our journey.
Until one day I saw you as myself-- beautful in your imperfection,
worthy in your tiredness.
Wise in every wrinkle, strong in every blemish
And always deserving of love.
