I feel silly to have missed it.

Felt that first connection right away; That first understanding of the one person who could truly understand me without even thinking about.

Saw those blue eyes sparkle and the warm smile.

I knew. Of course I knew.

But it can be so hard to trust, even when it should be obvious.

You waited patiently to be seen as I looked right at you.

Through you, sometimes.

Always looking for faults, imperfections.

Signs of wear that would make you less worthy of our journey.

Until one day I saw you as myself-- beautful in your imperfection,

worthy in your tiredness.

Wise in every wrinkle, strong in every blemish

And always deserving of love.
