Never Was

Invisible

as camouflaged as a leaf in the forest

I alter and I sway with the breezes of change

quick to disguise, changed as a chord in a chorus

I flip the script and the sound of my name

never needing to hide because you never see me

always looking beyond never knowing my heart

I’ve always been whatever you needed

so the truth is I was faded away from the start

you tore through my masks, running zero to sixty

I couldn’t keep up, so I just blended in

you couldn’t have noticed, because you never knew me

a love all consuming was the greatest of sins
