never stays gone
just around the corner
one word leads to another.
just around the corner,
that’s where i always am.
getting closer now,
just about to go,
en route.
but i was afraid to leave the house.
i didn’t want the world to see
just how much i grew to hate
the man i grew to be.
i wanted to hide what everybody knows,
but facts are facts-
the can be hidden,
but never lose their relevance.
i'm still looking outside-in,
and i wouldn't want it any other way
shouldn’t have been so hard to say what i meant-
even as hard as it is to hear,
just around the corner.
where i arm my greatest fears
and then i prepare for a fight.
can't come home until the war is won,
cause the conflict rages yet
between my chest and my head.
the regret seen hanging from my shoulders,
just around the corner.
that’s where I've been-
frozen and left for dead
because half the battle is just thinking i can win,
and now i know i can.
but nothing in the world is ever guaranteed.
just around the corner.
the lights are on but nobody’s home.
so i shut down the power and close the doors,
and then i light a match.
i toss it backwards as i walk away,
to burn my self down to foundation
while i prepare to build again,
stronger now than ever.
just around the corner,
in the darkness before the dawn.
just around the corner,
ready or not, i have come.
just around the corner,
the sun never stays gone.
just around the corner,
urban legends and legacies.
just around the corner,
