Never Known
Photo by andreas kretschmer on Unsplash

you said, you know me

not by the shape of my face

but the words in my embrace

when I get lonely

you said, baby I know you

and the curve of my smile

when I've been mad for awhile

pouting just like a child, too

baby I know you, you vowed

to hold my secrets like diamonds

when I felt safe or was frightened

and you'd always love me out loud

but now when I look at you...

you're quiet with nothing to say

all your words fade away

like the love in my rearview

***

cause, you never really knew

me
