never ending cycle

and yet we failed, and I will never know how

broken I made you feel when I

crushed your heart with my

damning words that I never meant to be so very

emotionally charged that they caused a

fire within our souls, battling for dominance,

glorifying pain and

heartbreak and creating the formation of jagged

ice surrounding our hearts so rigid that

just the mere thought of trying to thaw it

kills any semblance of sanity

left after how we left each other

marred and shells of our previous selves

never to return to the

“open to love and new experiences with

people we think could be good for us” mindset we were so

quick to fall into,

romanticizing the idea of

strangers who can dazzle us with a smile and quip of the

tongue, fluttering flattery with a growing

understanding of who we are and who we can be

vivaciously falling in love and

wandering daydreams about our future and how we can

xeriscape our love so that we will be set for life and

you and I will never have to work so hard to dodge

zigzagging emotions that cause us to fall apart
