Hello, I'm Neo and if you have found me

you are near a gold mine of sweet treasure

Aunt Jemima's call for breakfast

Oh Canada's symbol of life

and the most popular hockey team

A North American black bear's sticky beehive

A golden honeypot of sappy, oozing,

fine glucose for my brain and bright yellow fabulous

fuzzy head

International House of Pancakes

The base of a most spectacular and colorful tree

Underside the elegant leaves of Acer Sapindaceae

green in spring, yellow in late summer, and brilliant red in fall

Don't confuse me with Snoballs found in Walmart

Don't look for me in clear wrappers in supermarkets

Don't expect me to be found inside boxes at toy stores

But, keep your eyes open for pink and yellow wool and listen for muffled beats in the night as you stroll around

maples found from Nova Scotia to the Everglades

I spend my youth eating green leaves so when I mature I have long antennas to find your scent

and only when dusk approaches may I find you nestled under a maple leaf or dancing in the soil beneath

her trunk

We mustn't let the birds of prey find us during the day but rendezvous when the sky turns a silver maple blue, with a shimmery hue that only you and I can see
