The forest welcomed-
Stepping between giants,
Fingers grazing bark
A ledger of another day
A step back in time
To a day when spirits
Mingled among the living
And gave direction
In day to day,
Providing guidance
Through nature’s helping hand-
A world that listened
To it’s existence
And the things it could see
Feel and touch,
A simpler time
Among the wilds
Where equals grew
And goals were dreamed
With the knowledge
Of a helping neighbor-
A spirit ran through
The people of a valley,
The same spirit
Running through
The people of a mountain
And now the spirit
Has been all but extinguished,
Hiding among trees
And in the streams
That run between them,
Fluttering to human’s side
When safety is spotted
In the reflective expression
Of a person not stuck
In the climb of the ladder,
But moving with synchronicity
Of the natural world,
Barefoot in the grass
Swirling beneath sunshine
And humming to the tune
Of wind in the trees
While finding magic in the full moon.
