~
And there she was...
Created by Miss Van~
Lucious, velvety, orange hair,
Beautiful wide eyes that speak truth,
Small, button nose that sniffs honesty,
A non-described body of beauty,
~But was she prepared~
To face the truth of male domination,
The uncontrollable feeling,
Of art~
Placed in a cartoon world,
Where illustrators drew,
The masculine standard depiction of males,
Battling against the new creations,
Of beautiful orange feminity,
A women~
Who had no sense of power,
Trapped in a world of art,
Where the dominant gene,
Passed down, through artist,
To artwork~
Hurting the truth that once stood behind her sexuality~
~ Shes isn't crying in shades of blue,
But shades of orange that spoke of possibility to her.
Shes crying because the clothing that was painted on her,
Got destroyed by the abuse of supremacy.
Crumbled like the capability she once had.
She closes her eyes of truth, concealing it~
Being taken back to the time the artist of her,
Thought to grow authority with this piece.
Her arms cover her body,
Lips scrunched up, resisting tears,
Her hair isn't orange anymore,
Its turning grey....
She just got assaulted~

💓 Thank you for reading my poem!💓
I wrote this because of the thought I had that back when female characters were introduced in old cartoons, they were always so sexualised and scandalous. This piece is about sexuality and feminity as a powerful rejection of male supremacy and male-dominated art.

Such a beautiful poem! So wonderful!
Gosh your poem was so intense, poigant and emotional! You brought Miss Van's artwork to life with your words! Loved your poem!
The picture is cool art
This was so poignant yet beautifully written to explore the themes. Well done Kodah❤️
This is a potent, ekphrastic response to the image created by Miss Van. Please forgive me for a small, editorial suggestion: the English lexicon includes the word "femininity," which might fit the potent context of your poem perfectly.
Great work Kodah! Loved the story!
