lantern light challenge
fumbling through
darkness
calloused
grappling threads
of karmic
weaves
pulling shreds
to find
dead ends
circling loops
a lineage
left
to me
in the
darkness
of this
night
my eyes strained
to see
how to
braid
fragmented
pieces
looming wholeness
back into me
how do I
pull these
tattered strands
murky bits
of
tangled time
back into
something
beautiful
when I can’t
make out
the light
colors dimmed
in
muffled dark
muddied
ribbons in
shadows keep
unwinding
knotted patterns
trusting cords
of truth
to lead
deeper still into
the void
a flicker
struggling in
the night
golden flame
building
strength
transmuting
darkness through
the light
illumined patterns
i tried to weave
into something
whole
merely wicks to
light the flame
transmuted by
my soul
loops of
leathered ends
burned in the
lantern of
my heart
alchemized
by the light
mirrored
in the dark
About the Creator
Kristen Balyeat
Words fly to me on the wind, bump me as I'm strolling the city, splash me in the face while I rest by the river, and shake me awake in the middle of the night—I’m humbly one of the vessels they use to come to life.
Also, i love you:)
