My Puppy Love

I never thought

Puppy love could amount to anything,

And then, I saw you across the room.

Your deep, brown eyes drew me to you.

Your light hair glistened in the bright lighting.

I couldn't wait to touch you.

I could tell you were intrigued by me too.

Your body language and expression reflected that fact.

You ran to me.

Then, you stopped short,

Shyly glancing down and then back into my eyes.

We tentatively hugged.

You lost your inhibition

And showered my face with kisses.

I laughed when you tickled my neck.

From that first awkward, glorious meeting,

Our friendship grew beyond measure.

I'll never forget when I experienced

My first puppy love.
