My Phantom Lover be patient
The time just isn’t right

My Phantom Lover be patient
I woke before the morning had breath.
The room was still, the curtains unmoving.
Yet something watched from the quiet corner,
not cruel, not kind, simply present.
I did not turn the lamp on.
Light would have broken the moment,
and the air held a strange nearness,
as if another pulse shared the dark.
I felt the eyes in my bedroom.
Not a dream, not sleep’s wandering shadow.
They rested on my skin like memory,
soft, patient, waiting for nothing.
He stood somewhere between silence and breath.
The phantom lover, neither flesh nor absence.
A presence that knew the shape of my loneliness,
a visitor of the midnight hour.
No footsteps crossed the floorboards.
No door whispered open.
Yet the space beside me held warmth,
as though someone had just risen.
I stayed very still in that listening dark.
Wondering who seeks the living at night,
and why some hearts are followed
by love that does not belong to this world.
Every night he comes here, waiting for his invite.
One day I know I will surrender.
Yet not tonight my darling.
Goodnight ♥️
