On my bathroom counter
waits a fountain of youth,
patient as a priest
promising salvation
one pump at a time.
Each morning,
I unscrew the cap,
draw another drop from its spring--
a small devotion
before the day begins.
I have been faithful.
I have not missed a morning.
Still, the years settle
around my eyes,
tiny as the fine print on every miracle.

On another site, I had to write a 16 word poem and decided to expand to see what I could come up with. This is the 16 word poem:
Fountain of Youth
I
draw from
the Fountain of Youth
daily.
Still,
the passing years
settle
on my face.
