My moon, my moon

I write to you by senseless night

in the darkness of my requite

scanning the dark for a trace of your remain

tracing my fingers along the curves of your wane

○ ◑ ◕ ● ◗ ◒ ○

in the doldrums of your departure

your face all but forgotten

each interim of dusk caught in flickering lashes

waiting for slivers of your lumen to brighten

as you bleach the night from midnight to dawn

○ ◑ ◕ ● ◗ ◒ ○

your fullness veiled by a midnight blouse

revealed like a lover unbuttoning

button by button

until your bosom bared in full

as it was, as it is

only better for having waited

○ ◑ ◕ ● ◗ ◒ ○

in the rapture of your return

my desire waxes gibbous

from your teasing quarters

but even you cannot sustain your fullness forever

○ ◑ ◕ ● ◗ ◒ ○

for midnight returns its blouse

in stages

until the darkness covers you

and quickens the thirst

for what must never last
