My Mama was A Monster
But Moms Aren’t Afraid To Look Behind

What’s the matter she asked him, as she turned down his sheets
Mommy, please check under the bed for monsters for me?
Baby, don’t worry there’s nothing there underneath
But I promise to check before you go to sleep?
What’s the matter she asked, as she turned on the faucet
Mommy, please check for ghosts hiding inside my closet
Oh sweetie, please don’t let yourself get so upset
I swept your closet out last night or did you forget?
She climbed into bed and she whispered her prayers
Convinced those weren’t footsteps outside on the stairs
There are so many things that can make a mind scared
But no need to worry my darlings cause your mommy is here
She chased off the goblins, worked hard to keep her house clean
Protecting her children, like a well oiled machine
She survived her childhood by being in charge
Rumors say they’re still looking for that monster at large
No need to be afraid loves, I only need to be scarier
The love for my kids is all we need as a barrier
