https://vocal.media/poets/what-the-robin-knows - Inspired this:

You left me, abandoned,

Alone and lonely.

No one understands me,

Or my pain.

***

I wait at the water's edge,

Hoping death will embrace me somehow.

Maybe then I can, Once again,

be with my one true Love.

***

I spot a bird, hopping by,

Singing merrily.

I stop to listen to his song,

His bright red breast and knowing eyes

***

Watch me cry.

Undeterred, his feathered breast rises and falls,

His song, seemingly unending.

Those eyes watch me as he sings.

***

Now I see him every day.

He welcomes me to his world.

He sees me. He seems to know my pain.

I feel like he has befriended this lonely girl.

What the Robin Knows soothes my wounded soul.
