my jar

by Katarina Tyler

By Katarina TylerPublished about a year ago • Updated about a year ago • 1 min read

I know how fallen and exquisite we were

so I take your songs of me and dry them out

drain them of color

hide them in a nook

I know how tired and frustrated you get

so I take my dreams for us and fold them up

7 times in half

press them in a book

I know how frail and precious memory is

so I take my thoughts of you and put them in a jar

seal it tight

try not to look

But sometimes at night

when I am all alone

and frail and frustrated and falling

I take down my jar

and drink.
