My Favorite Color

By Anne MillbrookePublished 3 years ago 1 min read

Playing favorites is harmful,

we’re told,

but it need not be a slight

as all can be respected,

appreciated, and enjoyed.

.

Color, for example,

is a spectrum,

scientifically an

electromagnetic spectrum

of energy waves.

.

Red, orange, yellow,

green, blue, and violet:

the colors of the rainbow,

in the sky and

in mythology.

.

The red of passion and energy,

the vibrant and cheerful orange,

sunny yellow of clarity,

the growth and health of green,

peaceful blue, and spiritual violet.

.

But where is the awesome

blueberry blue of the waning day,

after the sunset, before the blackness,

that one moment, that one strip,

of blueberry blue sky?
