My Eyes Upon You

hope by love at first sight

I would have found you with my eyes closed.

But it was my eyes that first informed me

you had just arrived.

Could it be fate? Could I believe?

Before these eyes a vision beamed

My breath escaped my body

My heart let out a scream.

For all the nights I spent alone,

For all the wishes I once wasted.

When at first on you eyes rested,

A sweeter thing mine never tasted.

A certainty swept over me

So clearly I could now see,

For I had yet to love before

This moment came to be.

A thousand times a thousand times

I'd met you in my dreams.

But upon the first mine eyes met yours,

My heart burst forth it's seams.

To know we wait a lifetime

For moments such as these

We put up with the fear,

the stress, the death and the disease.

Just to take the chance that love

May grace our souls in peace.
