My Eyes Tell Lies
Nobody noticed I was there,
A shadow fading into grey.
Invisible to passing hearts,
Watching every soul drift away.
My eyes tell lies they cannot hide,
They smile although the pain remains.
They sparkle just enough to fool,
While sorrow quietly stains.
The mirror knows another face,
One hidden underneath my skin.
It tells the truth without a word,
About the war I fight within.
I learned to vanish in a crowd,
To wear a mask that fits just right.
The world applauds the painted smile,
Ignoring every sleepless night.
Invisible, yet standing here,
With silent battles left untold.
A thousand tears have turned to dust,
Where broken dreams have all grown old.
If someday someone truly sees,
Beyond the lies inside my eyes.
They’ll find a soul still holding hope,
Though hidden underneath disguise.
The quiet soul is often missed,
While louder voices fill the air.
Yet hidden hearts can carry strength,
Beyond what others ever share.
One day these eyes will tell the truth,
No longer hidden by disguise.
The world will see the real me then,
Beyond the sorrow and the lies.
