My black body catches the sunlight then refracts it like gemstones.
My black body has stories and poetry, flowing through my bones.
My black body dances like flickers from the fire,
And has mountains of curves, dripping with desire.
My black body radiates love, peace, and hope,
Which gives me a soul so dope,
All the haters can do is choke.
My black bones, hold the mold
Carry the family, birth the babies, and feed the old.
My black bones, secure and well-built from centuries of hate with no guilt.
Profiting off the infrastructure black bodies built.
A system that loves to watch black bodies killed.
My black body endures, time and time again
The burden of not knowing our home country, yet we’re called African American.
The underlying hatred of Black, every where we look.
The history of our torture, whitewashed in textbooks.
The black bodies we’ve lost, the pain they suffered.
The black babies bought, and stripped from their mothers.
The Black men worn from years of struggle.
The black mind is torn asunder,
Yet the colonist still wonders...
And boils red with hate.
So to further frustrate,
I like to unlock my gate
And let streams of everlasting life flow
From my head to my toes,
This hate only warms my fro.
Still the colonizer wants to know...
How my black body catches the sunlight then refracts it like gemstones.
How my black body has stories and poetry, flowing through my bones.
I tell them simply with my Disney Channel tone...
My black body radiates love, peace, and hope,
Which gives me a soul so dope.
