Subtle Pieces Of Me

willingly lost in a moment

led astray by a thought

misguided by the notion

that I am one with it

surreal scenes of wonder

collect like rain on the sill of my soul

shining thin lines of light on my darkness

that inner turmoil that stirs my journey

causing me to rise in the morning

peace knocks on my window

casting shards of hope into my emptiness

shattering the illusion of sorrow

burning remnants of comfort, marking my skin

like tattoos, telling the story of me

proving I am unique, intended even

on the cusp of special

wearing with pride the smiles and bruises

that call me home

a battered safe haven

where fragments of my spirit gather

to be renewed

to once again stand strong on the front lines

waging my war of survival

my accolades
