January wept

in the San Francisco Bay.

I unpacked boxes.

-

Tears from sky gods fell

flooding homes, bodegas, hearts.

Should I not have moved?

-

The troubled sea thrashed

to wake a sleeping city.

I dreamt of forest.

-

And the waters seeped

forming rivers under clay.

In the dark we shift.
