Walking Away

All of it started with the morning walks,

The crush, the love, it molded fog,

But I wish I had heard the screams from the future,

I was nailed down with a love so strong,

I burnt my hand, and broke my bones,

I tried to fix it, I paced the fights,

The rumors did scramble up my nights,

The tears washed away the blood so might,

The hurricanes just drew the hallelujah.

I scratched my skin, I withdrew my blood,

I always did try too much,

But never once was I good enough for you.

And now I take these steps tonight,

I’m walking away with my shattered pride,

All I wish for is a gleaming sun for you,

I’ll crawl away that’s all I can do,

My spine is broken down into a muse,

I have a sword and I am bruised,

It’s time that I cut us loose,

With the devil, I’ve entered into a truce,

For you, I wish immense happiness and warmth,

As for me, I’ll be dragged away by the storm.
