Morning Music

lyric

By Julie O'Hara - Author, Poet and Spiritual WarriorPublished 5 days ago • 2 min read

[Verse 1]
You stand barefoot by the cabinet
Sleeves scattered like a deck of cards
Reading every little paper spine
As if the right one knows where we are
You tilt your head at faded colors
Tap the corner, laugh and say
“I need something made for mornings”
Then you let the needle choose the day
[Pre-Chorus]
I watch the way you take your time
Like every word deserves a place
You never hide behind the easy line
You turn the whole truth toward my face
[Chorus]
I love the way you talk to me
No polished speech, no careful show
You leave the door of your heart unlocked
And let the smallest details glow
While you search for your morning music
I find my favorite sound is you
The little pause before you answer
The honest way you make things new
[Verse 2]
You hold two records to the window
Ask me which one feels like today
One has rain along the cover
One has a road that bends away
I say the one you almost picked up
You grin like I have read your mind
Then you tell me what you’re thinking
And somehow I am never left behind
[Pre-Chorus]
You make a room feel wide enough
For every worry I bring in
You don’t rush to turn it into love
You listen first, then let me in
[Chorus]
I love the way you talk to me
No polished speech, no careful show
You leave the door of your heart unlocked
And let the smallest details glow
While you search for your morning music
I find my favorite sound is you
The little pause before you answer
The honest way you make things new
[Bridge]
Let the coffee lose its rising steam
Let the whole apartment wait
You say, “Tell me what you really mean”
And I don’t have to translate
If love is choosing what to play
Then choosing you is clear
You make a language out of listening
And I can hear you here
[Final Chorus]
I love the way you talk to me
Your open hands, your steady eyes
You turn a quiet Saturday
Into the truest kind of sunrise
While you search for your morning music
I find my favorite sound is you
The way you say the difficult thing
And stay until I say mine too
[Outro]
The record turns, the room turns gold
You find the song, but I already know
My morning music, soft and true
Is every honest word from you
