Moments to Home

These moments with you.

The way your fingers trace mine.

The way you move closer, reaching for me.

Reaching into dark waters

Not knowing the treasure kept there but not afraid.

1000 times a day my eyes declare

My love for you

1000 times a day I hold back

Syllables that might cut

Words that aren’t enough to

Encompass this joyful sadness

This tumultuous calm

The way your mouth

Sends me to other galaxies

With its upturned corner

And bright laugh

I am afraid to tell you how

When you take my hand

My heart is a rocket flying through the night

And the falling sparks my love

Sprinkling on a world I never saw so beautifully

I wonder if you know,

as you pull me into strong arms

Holding me tight against the night

That the cocoon of us is the first place that comes to mind

When I think of home.
