missing

something

I miss when my heart wasn't dragged behind me

But instead was a rock-solid helium balloon

I wish that once I finally learn to breath underwater

It could follow me down into the cracks and find its doom

I am weighted by the boulders that I am pushing uphill

But still magnetically pulled backwards toward my sorrowful past.

If something I knew was wrong, then at least there would a way for me to leave myself alone.

Make me float up high

I want to be gone into the galaxy I know my heart itches for

The weight of this atmosphere is not enjoyable

The thickness of this world is not fun

I see only overcast skies and sad, longing umbrellas being smashed with the grogginess of midnight paints.

They do not long for peace such as I do.

And I will evade their asteroids until I am spaghetti-fied in the gravitas of a swirling, gaping mouth

A single tear in our being and all we thought was meaningless is essential,

And then the dripping sparks from our dragging hearts catches

Until the helium finds our lungs in giggles and cries

Helping us lift our weights

So that we may fly again.
