Midwest Winters

Mww

Midwest Winters

Cold the wind blows, freezes the beard, & frostbites the nose.

Toes bitter and numb, hands stiff, no help from the sun.

Potholes enlarged from the salty shards, cars start hard and batteries need charged.

Windows fogged, exhaust smog visible,

doors creak, & pipes leak,

Midwest winters are not for the weak.

No ones invincible,

trees crack, & logs burn black.

Ash and smoke, white power lines snapped, electricity now gone

Dark is the night, all week we wait for dawn.

Wounds crusted, thin metal rusted.

Water froze, and in the concrete it's busted.

Grass crumbles, ground solidified.

Rumbles in the street, no sign of heat.

Breath steaming, accelerated breathing.

Lips chapped, and moisture is fleeing.

The things we get used to, as Midwest beings.

The Things We Get Used Too!
