Midnight Dreary

Baby Please Don’t Go

The other night, while rummaging through my archives, I came across a plastic bag filled with poems I wrote in 1967 and the years that followed. My father had saved them for decades, every page and every version of the girl I once was.

The handwriting is raw, the emotions untouched, and the voice is unmistakably mine. I’m keeping the words exactly as they were written and bringing them back to life now with the music, images, and creative fire I’ve gathered along the way. It feels like opening a door between eras and letting my younger selves finally step forward.

Midnight Dreary

Baby Please Don’t Go

Once on a midnight dreary

Stood a girl, alone & weary

She suffered a pain

Do the scars still remain?

No one knows from where she came

She stands alone just the same

You look into my eyes

I into yours

What is behind baby blue eyes?

You found out that it is true

Oh no

Please, baby do not make me blue

Caress me in your arms

Baby, I will thrill you with my charms

You are mine; we are one

Baby, you are the only one I know

Please stay, do not go away

Oh, please stay over today

Oh baby, do not go, I will never let you go

Do not go, I love you, do not you know

You look into my eyes

I into yours

what is behind baby blue eyes

You found out it is true

Oh no

Please, baby do not make me blue
