Mick's Cog
A Poem Inspired By Mick Smith's Big Birthday Cog

Introduction
This is Mick's Facebook page
I saw the big cog that his wife got him for his birthday and thought maybe it deserved a poem. The metal cogs, gears, and chains that are part of Mick's art and exhibitions depend on repetition so I think the correct format for this is a villanelle, and though it's nothing to do with mechanics I thought "Big Wedge" by Fish was an appropriate tune to accompany this.
This was the piece I wrote on the exhibition:

There's New Teeth For The Old Cog
Made Of Iron These Chains And Gears
See Them Turn And Interlock

Like The Wheels In An Old Clock
Wind Them Up, They'll Go For Years
There's New Teeth For The Old Cog

Turbines Turn In Freezing Fog
Millwheels Turn Grind Grain For Beer
See Them Turn And Interlock
โ๏ธโ๏ธโ๏ธ
Blacksmiths Hammer In The Forge
Make These Giant Iron Gears
There's New Teeth For The Old Cog
โ๏ธโ๏ธโ๏ธ
Iron And Brass Flywheels Jog
Spinning Shining Metal Wheels
See Them Turn And Interlock

Behind The Face Of The Clock
Precise Movement Time Adheres
There's New Teeth For The Old Cog
See Them Turn And Interlock
