The hangmans at the gallows

Someone’s neck in his noose

Surrounded by swallows

No chance of ever getting loose

A crime has been committed

And a debt needs to be paid

As he begs for an acquittal

Can the judges mind be swayed?

Stuck here in the shadows

No chance this troubles gonna go

It’s awful hard to swallow

With deaths grip around your throat

Innocent or guilty now is just a point of view

There are so many different reasons to believe that it was you

Better say your Hail Mary’s

Give that rosary a rub

Cause the scene is getting hairy

And this crowds a little rough

They’re chanting, guilty, guilty

As the sun is setting low

Your eyes are getting milky

As the volume starts to grow

Just before he pulls the lever

The hangman bends, to meet your eyes

His grin seems a little clever

And to everyone’s surprise

From his pocket, pulls a letter

And he reads it, right out loud

Tucks it back into his sweater

Turns and quiets down the crowd

Seems this man’s already pardoned

So, go on, be on your way

He found salvation in the garden

There’ll be No hanging here, today

Picture perfect and quite picturesque of a hanging let down.

  • Ooo, now that's just wickedly cruel to wait so long. But that pardon will mean so much more, his life have such greater meaning to him, because of it. That Garden of Gethsemane will get you every time. There's just so much drama! But then, salvation almost always needs to come that way. As long as we believe we're in no need of saving, what does it mean? Those who have been forgiven little will love little. Those who have been forgiven much....

Oooh, it sounds a little like even with a pardon, his life is in the balance with a crowd like that!
