Men Are Coiled Snakes

Men are snakes, I’ve seen them hiss,

tongues all sugar, eyes that miss

no opening, no flicker, no trace

of kindness marked on any face.

Women follow, hearts in hand,

believing lies they half understand,

making meals from empty bones,

naming shadows, building homes.

They promise fire, then vanish cold,

a whispered truth, a grip too bold,

they wear their charm like second skin,

and leave you raw when they shed it thin.

We chase the dream, ignore the sting,

lace our pride with a wedding ring,

stand in storms to prove we’re strong,

knowing somewhere we played it wrong.

He said forever. I said yes.

Now I wear silence like a dress.

And every time I see him grin,

I curse the day I let him in.
