Maybes & What Ifs
could've beens
Maybe the
current within
can't be felt
on your end;
a surge
beneath the skin,
too weak
to comprehend.
What if
this live wire,
humming its static,
consumes me
in its fire and
leaves me erratic?
Maybe the
spark
was just
in my head;
the feelings
embark
but the connection
stays dead.
What if
the voltage
of your lips
sent that shiver
through me;
my system
held in
its grips,
shocked,
unable
to flee.
Maybe it
was I who
held on
too tight,
insulation
worn thin;
I hoped
you'd see
the light
before my
breaker
tripped
within.
What if
I blow
a fuse
and begin to
dissipate;
however,
with everything
to lose,
why is it
you I cannot
hate?
...
Maybes
and
what ifs
won't
keep me
away.
...
Could’ve
beens
become
would’ve
beens,
and
would’ve
beens
become
has
beens.
=
Possibilities
become
wishes
and
wishes
die.

I create stories and poems, and am known for deleting them if I (eventually) find them cringey, rushed, or meh (this includes any listed in challenges). Rarely, I post anything outside of that.
I goof my tags sometimes.
