MARRIED BUT LONELY
I miss the intimacy he just wants eat

MARRIED BUT LONELY
My husband put a block on love,
Somewhere along the way,
He never said he didn't love me,
He just forgot to say.
He never thought to hold my hand,
Or kiss me just because,
And when I asked him what was wrong,
He'd say, "Nothing ever was."
I used to cook his favourite meals,
And serve them with a smile,
I'd sit and wait for conversation,
But silence stayed a while.
He'd eat his tea and clear his plate,
And never say a word,
I'd ask him if he liked his meal,
He'd say, "I ate it, didn't I?
We went out for a lovely meal,
With candles burning bright,
I thought perhaps a little romance,
Might find its way that night.
But all I heard was knives and forks,
And chewing from his chair,
While lovers kissed across the room,
I wished that we were there.
I once reached out and held his hand,
While walking by the sea,
But somehow holding on to him,
Felt like he wasn't holding me.
I pinched his bottom one fine day,
And shouted, "Woohoo, you!"
He jumped and called me a bloody pillock,
Well, what was I to do?
I said, "Let's have a little fun,
Pretend you're someone famous!"
He looked at me as if to say,
"Good Lord, what will she name us?"
I sometimes lie awake at night,
And cuddle up my pillow,
Pretending there's an arm around me,
While tears fall soft and slow.
I say, "Why don't you laugh with me?
Why don't you want some fun?"
He says, "It's half past ten, my love,
My television programme's on."
I tell him that I miss romance,
The kisses and the laughter,
He says, "I'm just finishing my tea,
Then I'm going for a bath after."
He's never been a wicked man,
He's faithful, kind and true,
He'd give me anything I asked,
And there's nothing he wouldn't do.
But love is more than shopping bags,
And keeping floors all clean,
Sometimes it's just a tender touch,
To make a woman feel she's seen.
So here I sit, a married wife,
With loneliness beside me,
A wedding ring can't hold a heart,
When tenderness has died inside me.
And if you ask me what I want,
It's not a diamond or a rose,
It's someone laughing at my jokes,
And holding me when daylight goes.
For I don't want a perfect man,
Or riches by the score,
I only want to feel I'm loved,
And not be lonely anymore.
