Manipulated

A poem about frail mental health and a betrayal

I sent you so many letters and cards

Every word I meant had come from

The bottom of my heart and soul

I was wrong about my old flame

And you saw the red lights behind me

After all these years I have decided to

Walk the light path that you showed me

I should have been more like a lady,

By thinking before I speak and learn to

Keep my trauma and suffering to myself

And you said you I couldn't see what

Was in front of me because I'm autistic

I never stabbed you in the back, it's not

My fault my other friends took offence to

What you had said, and they knew everything.

You're clearly never been raped or abused.

How can you expect a victim of abuse to think

act and behave with cottage-core tranquility

You're lucky you've never been raped or abused.

You had the nerve to question my trust and loyalty.

Who loaned you a credit card for your retail therapy?

Who travelled half across the country for your errands?

Who was the one that reached out and apologised?

You preach with seeds about being kind to all.

Why did you ghost me? To keep me in the past.

Why couldn't you say thanks for the cards and letters

Please don't send me any more. I would have stopped.

Alas, I accept that you pretend that I don't exist.
