MANIFESTING MY HUSBAND

Dear darling husband-to-be,
Before I manifest you,
I’m writing down the little things
I’ll rather expect you to do.
You won’t know me and I won’t know you,
So we’ll get a few things right,
I’m putting all my wishes down
On this piece of paper tonight.

First, I want you attentive,
Not glued forever to your chair,
Come walking, swimming, laughing with me,
And show me that you care.
Take me dancing on a Saturday,
Let me sparkle, let me shine,
And when we’re moving round that floor,
Be proud that you are mine.

Pick up all your socks and undies,
Don’t decorate the ground,
Because if I trip over your trousers
There’ll be words going round.
A brew in bed each morning
Would start the day off nice,
And never tell me silly liesy
You’d be skating on thin ice.

Bring me flowers now and then,
Not because you’ve done something wrong,
But simply because you thought of me
When you heard our favourite song.
Hold my hand when life gets difficult,
Make me laugh when days are grim,
And I’ll be there beside you too,
Through every thick and thin.

And when the babies come along
And I start popping them out,
Don’t look at me and tell me
They’re my job without a doubt.
We made those little miracles
With love between us two,
So nappies, feeds and sleepless nights
Belong to me and you.

Be faithful, kind and truthful,
Treat my heart with some respect,
Because love is not a guessing game
Where anything goes unchecked.
If ever you decide you’d rather
Go wandering out the door,
Don’t expect this manifested wife
To beg you anymore.

But if you stay beside me,
With honesty in your eyes,
I’ll give you all the love I have,
No games and no disguise.
We’ll grow older, laugh at wrinkles,
Complain our knees have gone,
And still sit up far too late
When we should have gone to bed long gone.

We’ll argue over nothing,
Then forget what started it,
You’ll say that I’m impossible,
I’ll tell you, Get used to it.
But underneath the cheek and noise,
The truth will still remain,
I chose you once, you chose me too,
And I would choose again.

And when much later down the road
My final caller comes,
Don’t sit alone for all your days
Inside a silent home.
Grieve for me, remember me,
But let another love come through,
Because I wouldn’t want the man I loved
To lose his whole life too.

Find yourself a gentle soul
To brighten up your day,
Someone who’ll sit beside you
When the years have turned to grey.
And when your own time finally comes,
And earth has said goodbye,
You’ll find me there still bossing you
Somewhere beyond the sky.

So darling husband-to-be,
Read these rules before you start,
They’re written with a wicked grin
But every word has heart.
If fate should send you straight to me,
Then please arrive just right
Because your manifested wife is here,
And she’s written the terms tonight. ❤️
